American blogger and author
Rollo Tomassi is a pen name. The man behind it is an American who does not use his real name in his public work and who has had a day job in the liquor industry. He began writing about men, women and dating on online forums in the early 2000s and started a blog called The Rational Male in 2011.
The blog made him one of the best-known writers in the manosphere, a loose network of online communities focused on men's views of dating and gender. He calls his approach the red pill: men should drop the hope that women reward kindness, accept that women seek the best partner available, a drive he calls hypergamy, and build their own status. The Rational Male (2013) collects essays from the blog. Preventive Medicine, Positive Masculinity and a book on religion followed. He also runs a YouTube channel.
Supporters say his work helped them recover from divorce and improve their lives. Critics say his claims about women are unsupported generalizations and that his advice treats relationships as contests for power.
