About Logan Ury

Logan Ury grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, and studied psychology at Harvard University. She went into behavioral economics and co-led a team at Google that applied research on decision-making to the company's work.

In 2018 she was a TED resident and began to apply the same research to dating. She coached single people and wrote about relationships for outlets such as the Gottman Institute. She later became director of relationship science at Hinge, the dating app, where she studies what helps users go on dates and form relationships.

How to Not Die Alone (2021) is her first book. It argues that many people stay single because of patterns they can learn to see and change: they wait for a perfect partner, expect a spark at first sight, or put off commitment. It sorts daters into three types, the Romanticizer, the Maximizer and the Hesitater, and gives exercises for each. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
