Jay Papasan is a writer and a publishing executive at Keller Williams Realty. He went to school in Memphis, Tennessee, and studied English and French at the University of Memphis. He then spent two and a half years in France as a translator and wrote short stories in his free time. Back in the United States, he earned a master's degree from the graduate writing program at New York University.
He began his career in New York publishing, first at New Market Press and then as an editor at HarperCollins, where he worked on Mia Hamm's best-seller Go for the Goal. In 2000 he moved to Austin, Texas, and took a job writing newsletters for Keller Williams. When he learned that Gary Keller planned a series of books, he offered his editing experience. In 2003 the two founded KellerINK, the company's publishing arm.
Papasan co-wrote the Millionaire Real Estate books and SHIFT with Keller. The One Thing (2013) is their first book for a general audience. It argues that success is sequential: find the one task that makes the others easier, and give it protected time each day. He and his wife, Wendy, also own a real estate team.
