Bronnie Ware is an Australian writer, songwriter and speaker. After many years in work that did not satisfy her, she looked for a job with more meaning. She had no formal training, but she became a carer for people who were dying at home. She spent about eight years in palliative care.
In 2009 she wrote a blog post, "Regrets of the Dying", about what her patients told her in their last weeks. Millions of people read it, and she expanded it into The Top Five Regrets of the Dying (2011). The book mixes memoir with the five regrets she heard most often: not living a life true to oneself, working too hard, not expressing feelings, losing touch with friends, and not letting oneself be happier. It has been translated into more than 30 languages.
Ware also wrote Your Year for Change (2014). She had her first child at 45 and wrote about that experience in Bloom (2017). She lives in rural New South Wales.
